Wal-Mart and health insurnce

Today, there is a big issue about Wal-Mart and their health insurance. Many people suffer from Wal-Mart's health care system. In addition, the problem getting worse and bigger. Even if it is not a big problem, we have to think about what Wal-Mart did and is doing. I have several arguments. First, Wal-Mart has to raise their stipend and recognize their problems. Second, Wal-Mart not only has to support their employees but also spend more money on insurance. Third, I want to mention about demonstration. This is a way that employees can use to changing their disadvantage.

According to some articles, Wal-Mart has not only several problems about health insurance, but also a problem about discrimination. "The company is also battling a sex discrimination complaint filed by current and former female employees"(Wagner & Barbaro 2005, Par. 7). In addition, Wal-Mart worries about just their money, without caring about workers. "Wal-Mart is doing exactly what profit-driven private corporations will do when we leave what should be public policy in their hand: Maximize return and minimize costs, regardless of who suffers"(Steinback, 2006 par. 7). Another problem is that they do not worry about what they are doing or did. An example is they just make a solution that can cover their problem, and they just insist that it is not only our problem but also many companies' problem. Because Wal-Mart is a big company, many small companies will follow Wal-Mart (Abelson, 2004). This is one reason it is an important problem today. In addition, there is a sentence that can show us Wal-Mart being under control. “The new law is called the Fair Share Health Care Fund Act. It will affect only companies with ten thousand or more employees in Maryland. At least four companies are that big. But only one is known not to meet the new requirement: Wal-Mart Store” (Ritter, 2006 par. 2). Wal-Mart has a memo, which summarized what Wal-Mart did, and it shows the problem of Wal-Mart and health insurance. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Copley News Service, “The memo explores how the company can encourage health behavior in its work force. That's a very good thing. It also mentions a plan to open clinics in stores, and how to teach workers about the most efficient ways of getting health care” (2005, par. 2). As those problems show, Wal-Mart makes people rely on hospitals or some other charity care. Actually, many people suffer from that problem.

I plan to write about what Wal-Mart should do and employees can do by themselves. First, Wal-Mart not only has to raise its stipend but also has to recognize about their problems. In the case of people who do not have health insurance due to money, it will be a necessary thing. Actually, Wal-Mart has to find a way to solve its insurance problem; moreover, Wal-Mart has to support its workers' ability to get good health insurance. Wal-Mart did not give good health insurance to their workers, so they have to support their workers, such as offering lodging, or making people able to live comfortably. On the other hand, there is a way that employees can solve the problem that Wal-Mart did.

First, Wal-Mart has to raise its stipend and recognize their problems. Many employees who work in Wal-Mart do not have health insurance and they just work hard. Actually, there is just a little thing for their employees. According to one article, many employees suffer from money problems. “About 40 percent of the company's insured workers paid four times the national average, or 16 percent of their income, for out-of-pocket health care expenses” (The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Copley News Service, 2005, par. 7). Even though Wal-Mart knows about their employees’ condition, Wal-Mart did not do anything for their employees. Moreover, this situation makes people rely on other kinds of health insurance, such as government (The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Copley News Service, 2005). In addition, the rate of uninsured people has increased and today the number is 63.7million(Steinback, 2006 ). In addition, Wal-Mart just seeks their profit. “The company says it has no way of knowing how many of its employees, whom it calls associates, or their families are insured under state programs” (Abelson, 2004, par. 5). Because Wal-Mart seeks only their profit, many workers will get damage from Wal-Mart. Moreover, there is a bit of risks that other companies will follow what Wal-Mart did because Wal-Mart is a big company. If other companies follow what Wal-Mart did, it is going to be a more serious problem. It is one of the things that Wal-Mart has to improve. Wal-Mart has to see their future. Even if Wal-Mart cares only about what they faced, Wal-Mart has to care about their future too. In order to keep their reputation, they have to not only make an effort for their employees, but also recognize what problem that Wal-Mart has now, and then they have to solve their problem to make their employees satisfied from supporting them and recognizing the problem.

Second, Wal-Mart not only has to support their employees but also spend more money on insurance. There are many employees who do not have health insurance from Wal-Mart. Moreover, also Wal-Mart do not offer good health care for their families. “It’s a sad accounting for the world’s richest nation: 45 million Americans, including 84million children, lacked health-insurance coverage in 2003, according to the National Coalition on Health Care (whose honorary chairmen are former presidents Bush, Center and Ford)” (Steinback, 2006, par. 8). In addition, those people have been supported by government or other health insurance companies. For those people, Wal-Mart has to find several solutions. Actually, the employees who take other companies' health insurance are Wal-Mart's problem, and when employees work without health insurance, they are exposed to many risks actually, so that they cannot work for a long time. If Wal-Mart does not support employees, employees are going to get another job which has terms that are more favorable. If so, it is absolutely disadvantageous and it can make Wal-Mart lose their reputation. According to Ritter, “A new state law in Maryland says large companies must spend at least eight percent of their total wages on health care. If not, then they will have to pay the difference to the state to help provide health care to the poor. The amount for non-profit employers is six percent” (2006, par. 1). That shows us how the insurance problem is a big problem and how Wal-Mart did not offer good service to their employees.

Next, employees have to demonstrate. This is a way that employees can use to change their disadvantage. I think those are good ways too to change their disadvantage. For example, there are many cases that we have seen. Sometime some company's employees try to make a demonstration or campaign activity to change some disadvantage. Of course, those have to be the very last solution for their disadvantage. However, if Wal-Mart does not do anything for their employees and if employees are not satisfied, employees can make a demonstration and the demonstration will not be illegal. That means employees also have a right to complain. Of course, they have to think about whether demonstration is good for changing their disadvantage or not and there may some bad situations from the demonstration. However, it can be what they have to do and it will be a good way to transmit their dissatisfaction to Wal-Mart. In addition, there is another way to transmit their dissatisfaction. It is a campaign. It will be more peaceful than a demonstration. In addition, a campaign will make people able to understand their feeling. In the case of a demonstration, it can make people feel more radical. Therefore, sometimes a campaign will be a good way to transmit their dissatisfaction. However, a demonstration is also a good way if employees can control themselves.

In conclusion, one of my articles mentioned about government intervention (The St. Louis Post-Dispatch Copley News Service, 2005). In addition, another of my articles mentioned that what Wal-Mart did to their employees is not only morally bad behavior but also incorrect behavior as an American (Locke, 2005). It will be a good solution to control Wal-Mart. In addition, in order to solve these problems, Wal-Mart has to find several solutions by themselves. "Wal-Mart is doing exactly what profit-driven private corporation will do when we leave what should be public policy in their hand: Maximize return and minimize costs, regardless of who suffers" (Steinback, 2006, par. 7). In addition, this is what we face now. “We’re in this crisis because the American public has been snake-charmed into believing that legislation in the public interest is an insidious, reprehensible enterprise, and that nothing is good for America unless the fortune 500 has extracted every last penny of profit from it” (Steinback, 2006, par. 10).

Wal-Mart and health insurance



According to some articles, Wal-Mart has not only several problems about health insurance, but also a problem about discrimination. In addition, Wal-Mart worries about just their money, without caring about workers. Another problem is that they do not worry about what they are doing or did. An example is they just make a solution that can cover their problem, and they just insist that it is not only our problem but also many companies’ problem. Because Wal-Mart is a big company, many small companies will follow Wal-Mart. This is one reason it is an important problem today. In addition, Wal-Mart has a memo, which summarized what Wal-Mart did, and it shows the problem of Wal-Mart and health insurance. As those problems show, Wal-Mart makes people rely on hospitals or some other charity care. Actually, many people suffer from that problem.

I plan to write that Wal-Mart should do several things. First, Wal-Mart has to raise its stipend. In the case of people who do not have health insurance due to money, it will be a necessary thing. Actually, Wal-Mart has to find a way to solve its insurance problem; moreover, Wal-Mart has to support its workers’ ability to get good health insurance. Wal-Mart did not give good health insurance to their workers, so they have to support their workers such as offering lodging, or making people able to live comfortably. Last, Wal-Mart has to recognize that problem that it has. Especially, for poor people, Wal-Mart has to consider reducing the price of health insurance.

Wal-Mart and health insurance


When I read my articles, I became interested in the relationship between a company and health insurance. Because Wal-Mart is a very big company in the USA, it can be an issue, and a good example that can show us about the problem between a company and health insurance. I can recognize that it is a serious problem. According to the articles, Wal-Mart has not only several problems about health insurance, but also a problem about discrimination. In addition, Wal-Mart worries about just their money, without caring about workers. Another problem is that they do not worry about what they doing or did. An example is they just make a solution that can cover their problem, and they just insist that it is not only our problem but also many companies’ problem. Because Wal-Mart is a big company, many small companies will follow Wal-Mart. This is one of reason why it is important problem today. I have found two articles about Wal-Mart and health insurance. As I find those articles, I have become aware of the importance of health insurance, and it is still a problem not only in Wal-Mart but also in many companies. I still need several articles to get at what is the core problem and what is a good solution for those problems.

Wal-Mart and health insurance



According to the author, Wal-Mart had some problems. For example, Wal-Mart had discrimination for their worker. Especially, they prefer men over women. In addition, these days Wal-Mart makes people rely on hospital or some other charity care.
Moreover, Wal-Mart is strongly coping with how to deal with those problems to prevent much blame from people and they pretend to have some solutions. Wal-Mart said that today it is not only our problems but also other companies’ problems. However, Wal-Mart has lots of employee who cannot get health care service and it is still their serious problem. Moreover, many people who could not get health care service, are paying huge amount of money in a year. In conclusion, they just are trying to defend their problems very strongly. Moreover, they want only money from people. They do not even try to solve those problems.

I have three arguments that I want to say to Wal-Mart.

First, Wal-Mart has to support their worker to get good health care service. This article mentioned that people rely on other charity care instead of Wal-Mart. I think that making people rely on other charity care is the fault of Wal-Mart. Because Wal-Mart could not give good quality for worker, maybe they wanted to find anther way to get good health insurance. At that time, if Wal-Mart gave something good as a counterplan, they may not have to go somewhere to get a good health insurance for them. Not only to protect increasing worker but also for Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart has to find good solutions.

Next, Wal-Mart has to raise its stipend instead of what they did not well to worker. Also in this article, although many people want to get health insurance from Wal-Mart, they do not even have enough money to get health insurance. It will be difficult problem for employees. If they just provide very a few tolerances, it can be a good solution to worker. Therefore, to solve that problem, Wal-Mart has to raise its stipend. In my opinion, what Wal-Mart does for worker is just respect of the minimum of what they can show to their worker.

Last, they need to recognize the problems that they face on and they need to know how to find a good solution for their worker. What I want to say is, today Wal-Mart doe not know what their problem is. Today, Wal-Mart is ignoring blame. In my opinion, what Wal-Mart needs to do is find a solution in a hurry. If they do not do anything, absolutely it will be fatal to Wal-Mart. When they realize that, they can realize how they can help worker also. Therefore, when they realize what the problem they face is or how to solve it, they can get prosperity.

In conclusion, I think the most important thing is, they have to realize what is their problem. In addition, when they throw out only a few their avarice for profit, they can find many way to solve the many
problems they face.

Wal-Mart and Health insurance


According to the author, these days Wal-Mart has an insurance problem. There is a memo which summarized what Wal-Mart did. This means the memo has everything about Wal-Mart. According to the president, M. Susan Chambers, these days the memo makes clear about Wal-Mart’s health insurance and it is a serious reputation issue, she said. Because Wal-Mart is a big company, many small companies will follow what Wal-Mart does. That is a reason Wal-Mart has to make sure what is good for their worker for health insurance. There are several problems about Wal-Mart’s health insurance. About half of the children whose parents work in Wal-Mart are uninsured or rely on the government, and about 20 percent of workers in Wal-Mart even do not have health insurance. Moreover, Wal-Mart is required to give lots of money to disabled people and sick people. These are problems that Wal-Mart has. In addition, the most serious problem is that Wal-Mart does not care about what they did. They just worry about money. In conclusion, what the author saying is that government and labor need to work together and they need to discipline Wal-Mart.

Of course, I disagree with what Wal-Mart did. I plan on writing that there are three things that Wal-Mart has to do.

First, Wal-Mart has to reduce the price of health insurance for people who do not have a the ability to pay for health insurance, such as sick people, handicapped people, and so on. In addition, Wal-Mart has to support people with money. It is an important thing because there may many people who rely on Wal-Mart for health insurance. If Wal-Mart does not give any benefit to worker, they will leave Wal-Mart then it will not be a good thing for Wal-Mart.

Second, Wal-Mart has to raise its up stipend instead of having unfair health insurance. It just one way to satisfy people who retuned back unfair health insurance. That meaning is Wal-Mart has to compensate for people. If Wal-Mart does not do anything for people, many workers will leave from Wal-Mart.

Last, according to the article, there are 20 percent of people who cannot get health care. Also Wal-Mart has to compensate people who cannot have health insurance. For example, they could make a good thing which could make people agree with it. In addition, people who do not have health insurance have to require health insurance of Wal-Mart. If they have some accident without health insurance, it is not only the fault of Wal-Mart but also there is a responsibility to people who do not have health insurance. However, his problem should be fixed by Wal-Mart and they need to have some benefit for people related to Wal-Mart’s fault.

In conclusion, for Wal-Mart’s entire fault, Wal-Mart has to try to make people satisfied from another benefit. If Wal-Mart cannot find the way, they have to try to find it.

Wal-Mart

According to the author, nowadays Wal-Mart has some arguments with people who live in small town. People who live in small towns do not want Wal-Mart to become bigger, because they think that they will lose their history and culture. Today Wal-Mart keeps trying to make supercenter. In addition, there are several opinions about making supercenter. Person who wants Wal-Mart to become bigger said that if a supercenter comes into a small town, it will be changed from a local to regional shopping hub. However, there are some opposite opinions. There is a group called UFF-DA Wal-Mart. They consist of people who disagree about getting bigger. In addition, recently, some cities have had displeasure with Wal-Mart. Today the number of groups that do not want Wal-Mart get bigger, is increasing. When they think about making Wal-Mart bigger, there is one more problem when they try to make a Wal-Mart in an urban area where a lot of people live. Michael Collins said it can be a different real estate game. In this situation, Wal-Mart insist on their opinion without a small store.

I disagree about making Wal-Mart bigger. I have three ideas about that.

First, making Wal-Mart bigger is a bad thing to a small market. In this article, people do not have displeasure about the small size Wal-Mart and maybe they will use a small market and Wal-Mart too. When Wal-Mart tries to make it bigger without opinions of people who live in their small market, it will be a bad thing to Wal-Mart and it can have a bad effect. Because this is the wrong way to get much income, they had better find another way for Wal-Mart and a small market.

The second one is a money problem. If they make Wal-Mart bigger in a town where there are people who disagree about Wal-Mart, actually they do not need to make it bigger. When they make it bigger and then they fail, they will just regret about their money. If they want to succeed in their work, they had better look for another way that can make people agree with their opinion.

Finally, the space problem can be one problem. Of course, if they build a second floor, it can not be a space problem. However, as we can see in the article, people will not attracted to a second floor. Therefore, they will make it on the ground and the problem of space will happen. My opinion is if they build it on the ground they need to try to figure out how they can make Wal-Mart on the ground from a small space. In addition, they also need to listen carefully about the opinion of people.

In conclusion, in my thinking the best way to solve this problem depends on how Wal-Mart can solve problem with people well. For example, it could have good service instead of making it bigger.
